This is powerful! Our senior physiotherapist, Lucie Myall, recently traveled to a refugee camp in Northern Uganda to provide specialist wheelchairs and aids for a community of refugees to promote inclusion and mobility. Many of the refugees had suffered significant injuries as a result of war conflict, as well as long standing disabilities. The Wheels for the World team provided pop-up clinics and community visits during the 10-day trip to supply a wide range of custom-made mobility aids and wheelchairs. They also trained local refugee volunteers to support their local disabled community to promote future inclusion and accessibility. Watch this video to see how Lucie and the Wheels for the World team positively impacted this disabled community in need. A big thank you to Wheels for the World for all their ongoing work. Some of our staff (also known as the Peaky Peartree Quiz Team) took part in the Irwin Mitchell 'quiz that isn’t a quiz, quiz – a games night for Headway'. The Quiz was held at Revolution De Cuba in Southampton, providing us with endless fun, trivia and laughs. The evening was made even more enjoyable knowing that proceeds from the quiz night would be going towards raising funds for Headway. ... See more

Here is a heart-warming testimonial from a client who was so impressed with his recovery that he will be speaking at our conference on February 26th. This is what Tony had to say about his experience being supported through his community rehabilitation by the Peartree Therapy Team: “It is no exaggeration to say that I would not even be capable of being at home at this moment in time, let alone being able to type an email, were it not for the inspirational and professional care that you and your team provided. “There is no doubt that I have progressed more quickly and have become independent far sooner than would normally be expected, due to the home support that you personally as case manager have provided. Special credit is also deserved for your assistant, Sue and to Gen, lead psychologist. “The programme was extremely testing at times and it's fair to say that I struggled to keep apace with it initially. However, with your team's professional and caring help, I was able to regain my confidence and recover very quickly from what was, without a doubt, a life-threatening brain injury. “One final point that I would like to make is that you identified I would be more receptive to rehabilitation in my home environment than in a hospital or a care home. You were absolutely spot on in this and I think that my speedy recovery is testament to the ultimate decision that was made. “I know that my journey isn't yet complete and that my life has changed forever. However, it's undoubtedly due to you, Sue, Gen and the rest of your team that I have reintegrated into society so quickly and effectively. “There can surely not be any more evidence of the benefit and effectiveness of the Peartree House rehabilitation programme than this email. “I cannot praise you and your team too highly. The professionalism, patience and obvious care that you demonstrated was superb and I would like to sincerely thank you all from the bottom of my heart.” It’s always nice to see clients benefiting from rehab and even better when they give you such positive feedback. ...
