Peartree House hosts Care Home Early Warning System training for Nurses-CHEWS

We are proud to be associated with this exciting development. The first in-depth course specifically designed and developed for Nurses in Care and Nursing Homes, in response to raised awareness that many un-planned transfers to hospitals from care/nursing homes and community hospitals may have been preventable through earlier detection and thus early prevention: bringing the Early Warning Scoring system used in today’s modern hospitals into the residential care sector.

CHEWS covers some of the most topical issues facing nurses today (including Sepsis, (which has again featured widely in the national news lately), etc.), delivering obvious benefits by increasing their potential to spot the signs of illness and/or deterioration in a resident that much earlier, making them an even more valuable asset to the care setting by training them in quality improvement methods, realising better out-comes, ensuring that any move to an acute care setting is only required when absolutely necessary, thus supporting the ‘out of hospital’ strategy. The 18 participants rated the training very highly and we are proud to have facilitated this day. I have no doubt there will be a huge benefit to our clients as a result of this training.
